Take a day trip to explore the beautiful Gantrisch region. The Gürbetal Highland Trail, leading along the Längenberg and the Gürbetal Valley, is a perfect hike. For those who enjoy the incredible views of the Alps in the distance or if you have a cultural interest in beautiful old farmhouses, this hike is a special treat.
The Gürbetal Highland Trail begins in Kehrsatz. After a short climb, the path continues on natural trails along the side of the Längenberg and leads through fertile land and open forests.
The snow-capped Alps in the distance form the backdrop to the fantastic scenery and along the path you come across many beautiful old farmhouses decorated with flowers. Riggisberg with views of Lake Thun is located close to the end of the path. In Riggisberg, the trail passes the Abegg Foundation, a textile museum known far beyond the Swiss borders. Part of the last section of the Gürbetal Highland Trail down to Wattenwil, belongs to the Way of St. James.
Along the way, there are plenty of places to stop for a picnic, benches to rest your feet and guesthouses for refreshments. It’s easy to walk the Gürbetal Highland Trail in sections as it offers various PostBus stops to start or end the hike (see Timetable/Timetable Information).
