From Guggisberg to Rüschegg

Discover the scenic Gantrisch region on an excursion. The hike leads up to the Guggershörnli with its spectacular views and allows you to enjoy unspoilt nature between Guggisberg and Rüschegg.

At Guggisberg, the hike begins in spectacular fashion as you climb up to the Guggershörnli via a steep wooden staircase that seems to lead straight to the sky. The scenery already inspired the popular Swiss folk song “Vreneli ab em Guggisberg”. The Guggershörnli offers sweeping views over a large part of Gantrisch Nature Park and the Fribourg Alps all the way to Lake Biel/Bienne.

Via Schwendelberg, the trail descends to Neumatt and Bühl. Continue downhill through Bühlholz to Nöthenhaus and Kräjeren. From there, a detour to the Gambach Falls is rewarding. This gem of a waterfall is characterized by typical undercuttings and large, broken-off boulders.
After ascending over Alpine pastures and past small farmhouses, you reach Rüschegg. Rüschegg Church can be seen from afar, and taking a look inside is also well worth it. Here, you can admire a painting by world-renowned Rüeschegg artist Franz Gertsch. The descent to Rüschegg Heubach passes the artist’s studio at Hüslistett.

Along the way, you can find many rest areas, such as the one at Schwendelberg (including fire pit).
