Hiking on Glacier 3000

Glacier Walk

Explore the glacial world of Glacier 3000 – and enjoy a close-up experience of this unique natural phenomenon. These impressive scenes will stay in your memory for ever.

The Glacier Walk, a marked glacier path, starts directly next to the Scex Rouge mountain station. You'll gasp in amazement at the station itself as soon as you arrive. Designed by the architect Mario Botta, it embodies his absolutely unique style. An unforgettable feast for your taste buds – and your eyes! Guests at the Restaurant Botta enjoy a unique panoramic view of the Alpine peaks. But there will be plenty of eye candy on your plate, too – everything from light snacks to specialities of the cantons of Berne, Vaud and Valais.

For a slightly easier option, take the Ice Express chairlift down to the glacier first and then start your walk across the snow from there.

The hike takes you from Scex Rouge to the Restaurant Refuge l’Espace at the edge of the glacier, near the Quille du Diable. The location of Refuge l’Espace makes it probably one of the most spectacular mountain huts in the whole Alpine region. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn as you savour delicious regional specialities.

You can return to Scex Rouge on foot, or you can take the Glacier 3000 Snow Bus.

The highlight of this hike is the panoramic vista of 24 snow-clad 4,000-meter peaks and the glacier.
