Museum HAARUNDKAMM Mümliswil (Hair and comb museum)

Jewellery and decorative combs for crowned heads

The local history and tradition of comb-making comes to life again in the old comb factory in Mümliswil. The exhibition about hair and combs (HAARUNDKAMM) is dedicated to the comb as a useful and decorative object and to its manufacture. The exhibition also features pictures and exhibits about hairdressing fashions.

The only museum in Switzerland (Thal) dedicated to combs documents the 200 year-old tradition of comb-making. Royalty, aristocrats and wealthy people all over Europe adorned themselves with decorative combs from Mümliswil. In addition to the many interesting exhibits, tools and documents from the former comb factory are on display. The museum is a top-quality gem of cultural history.
