In the surroundings of Bellelay
Starting in Bellelay, the famous production site of the Tête de Moine cheese, this snowshoe hiking tour takes you to the heights of the Montagne du Droit to Sur Montbautier. You then return to your point of departure crossing the forest of the same name.
You start out at the Domaine de Bellelay and the impressive, 300 years old abbey where the house of the Tête de Moine is situated as well, and embark on a loop tour heading south. The first part of the trail is flat and perfect for a warm-up. The view over the pastures in the great plain around Bellelay is very beautiful.
After crossing a small forest you reach the forest of Montbautier. Taking a left, you follow the trail in a southeastern direction. A steep climb through the forest takes you up to point 1’089 at the end of the forest. The route continues in a moderate ascent through pastures up to the impressive farmhouse of Sur Montbautier which is passed on the southern side.
The trail then leads through beautiful landscapes with majestic snow-covered pine trees along the southern slope of the Montagne de Montbautier, through pastures and forests to La Rouge Eau. From here, both routes take you back to Bellelay through the large plain with its splendid backdrop.

There is also the Swiss tobogganing paradise for our toboggan fans to discover.
This marvellous place in Switzerland is very popular in winter for a stroll around the lake. If the lake is frozen, it is possible to walk on it or even ice skate, but please note: while these activities are tolerated, they take place at everyone’s own risk and responsibility. The thickness of the ice is not checked.
