Bring your friends or family to explore the Col-des-Roches underground mills at Le Locle. Experience a unique adventure.
The cave at Col-des-Roches was formed by water running through the valley of Le Locle. In the mid 17th century, some remarkable equipment was installed in it. Ingenious millers transformed the cavern and carved out the rock to harness the power of an underground waterfall. They designed an impressive system of interconnected hydraulic wheels to power mills, threshing machines and saws. This was how the underground mills at Col-des-Roches were born. The converted cave and museum tell visitors their story.
