Val Colla

Tesserete is the starting point for the Val Colla, one of the most traditional valleys of Ticino with idyllic villages on hillsides and beautiful chestnut forests. Discover this valley on one of the numerous hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty. The roads are narrow and steep, and sometimes the postbus has to make several manoeuvres to reach its destination. Get aboard the postbus on the Tesserete-Bogno-Maglio di Colla route and enjoy the adventurous journey through the typical villages that offer many hiking possibilities. For example in Cozzo (bus stop "Cozzo, Paese"), where the trail to Alpe Pietrarossa and the marmot park begins: a hike of about four hours which is not very difficult, but still requires good equipment and sure-footedness. The final stop, "Maglio di Colla, Paese", is a good starting point for walks towards Piandera and Arla.

Maglio di Colla can also be reached on the Tesserete-Maglio di Colla-Sonvico route. By choosing this option you will arrive at Cimadera (bus stop "Cimadera, Paese") where you will find a hiking trail suitable for the whole family. The ascent to the peak of Cima di Fojorina is a little steep, but you are rewarded by a spectacular view of three lakes (Lake Lugano, Lario, Verbano), the Po valley, the Apennines and the Alps. On the way back to Tesserete, stop in Curtina to visit one of the few covered wooden bridges in Ticino, which offers pedestrians a nice and comfortable passage.
