Wildnispark Zurich Sihlwald
Hike from Hausen a.A. to Horgen
The Sihlwald forest lies just outside Zurich and is the first national nature discovery park inviting you to explore and spot wild animals up close in Langenberg.
The wilderness is so close to Zurich and Zug. The Hausen a.A.–Sihlwald–Horgen hike takes you through the Sihlwald forest in the Wildnispark Zurich – the largest, pristine mixed beech forest in Central Switzerland.
The ascent from Hausen a.A. to the Albishorn is steep and demanding. But the effort pays off after around an hour: a magnificent view over the alpine foothills. You then head through the Sihlwald forest, past the Albishornweiher ponds. The best time to hear nature is in spring. The croaking of the frogs and birdsong is like music to the ears. A jungle-like feeling.
The visitor center in Sihlwald is open between May and October. Here you will find information about the wilderness, as well as a natural history museum and bookshop.
The hiking trail then heads up the Zimmerberg mountain along the forest discovery path. After crossing the motorway, keep to the right and walk towards Lake Zurich until Horgen railway station or boat station.
