Space for bicycle transportation is limited and reservations are required on the following routes across the mountain passes of the Central Alps. Reservations for bicycles are accepted no later than 16.00 hrs. on the day before travel. As a general rule, we recommend that reservations are made 48 hours prior to departure.

Graubünden Region

Bicycle carry-on in Graubünden

During the summer season, postbuses are equipped with practical bicycle racks at the rear of the vehicle, except for minibuses and vehicles operating in urban areas. There is no guarantee of transportation. If a bicycle cannot be carried due to lack of capacity, it will be taken on the next postbus trip. Please see the relevant timetable for details and contact information: www.fahrplanfelder.ch.

Routes in Chur

During the summer months, there is increased capacity for bicycle transportation (bike racks at the back of the bus). However, there is no guarantee of transportation. It is not possible to make reservations for bikes.

Route: Chur–San Bernardino–Bellinzona

The transportation of bikes is restricted. As an alternative, the regional buses running between Thusis-San Bernardino-Bellinzona (timetable 62.214 and 90.541) can be used. For connections between Chur and Thusis, please use the Rhaetian Railway.

Route: Zernez–Müstair–Malles/Mals

Departure 81111 at 09.34 hrs. is excluded from bicycle transportation.

Ticino Region

Transport of bicycles – Ticino region

Wherever available, bicycles can be transported on the five-space racks (three-space racks for small vehicles) attached to the back of the vehicles. Alternatively, they may be transported inside the vehicle when possible. 

The transport of bicycles is permitted on a restricted basis, and transport is not guaranteed. 

The conditions for transport inside vehicles are set out below:

Bicycles can be transported on all services on working days, from Monday to Friday, from 8.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. 
No restrictions apply on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. 

Bicycles can be transported in vehicles only if sufficient space is available on the platform. 
Priority is given to the transport of persons, wheelchairs and pushchairs. 

The safety of other passengers must be guaranteed at all times.

The bicycles must be loaded on to the vehicles by the passengers themselves.

If the bicycle cannot be transported due to capacity, the next service must be awaited.

The company does not assume any responsibility for any damage caused to third parties or to the bicycles.

The transport of bicycles is not permitted on the following routes:

Wallis region

PostBus uses bicycle trailers with a transport capacity of up to 20 bicycles on some routes and on the early morning routes from Obergoms: Ulrichen–Nufenen, Oberwald–Grimsel and Oberwald–Furka. On most other routes, the postbuses can transport up to five bicycles.

For the transportation of bicycles in the cantons of Vaud, Fribourg, Neuchâtel and Jura as well as in the Bernese Jura, we recommend that you always reserve your seats. The buses are not automatically equipped with bike racks.

Col du Marchairuz (mid-May to October)

On weekends in the summer season, a maximum of five bicycles can be transported on route 10.720 towards Col du Marchairuz.
